Ikenaga Earns First Big West Defensive Player of the Week

UC Davis’ Senior Leads League in Tackles

UC Davis senior linebacker Wyatt Ikenaga has been named the Big West Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Aggies’ 33-28 win over Northern Colorado on Saturday.

Ikenaga led the Aggies with 11 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss and a half-sack. He also forced a fumble and recovered another.

The senior co-captain was a key part of a UC Davis defense that held Northern Colorado to just 28 points and 334 yards of total offense.

This is the first time Ikenaga has been named the Big West Defensive Player of the Week. He is the second Aggie to earn the honor this season, joining cornerback Devon King who won the award in the season opener.

Ikenaga and the Aggies will be back in action on Saturday when they host No. 12 Montana in a key Big Sky Conference matchup.
